PROFILE OF THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN, ALBERT ILEMOBADE LIBRARY, FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE, NIGERIA-Dr. BELAU OLATUNDE GBADAMOSI
Dr. Belau Olatunde Gbadamosi was born in the ancient City of Oyo town in Oyo State. He had his elementary education at the Methodist Primary School, Apara, Oyo. He received his secondary education between 1971 – 1975 at Ladigbolu Grammar School, Oyo where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1975. He received Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) at the then Oyo State College of Education, Ilesha in 1982.
Dr. Gbadamosi obtained a Bachelor degree in Education Management/Geography in 1988 at the University of Ibadan. He enrolled for a Master Degree in Library Studies at University of Ibadan and obtained a MLS Degree in 1991. In 2006, he obtained a Ph.D in Library and Information Studies from the same University.
Dr. Gbadamosi started his working carrier as Librarian and Information Practioner in July, 1991 at the then St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo now Alayande College of Education, Oyo after spending more than a decade as Teacher in Primary and Secondary School level.
As a Librarian, he has worked and headed many Units within the College Library. He had headed Units such as Isokun Campus Library, Technical Services, Readers Services, Reference Unit, and Lanlate Campus at one time or the other. He rose through the ranks to become Ag. College Librarian and College Librarian in 2006 and 2010 respectively. Through the dine of hard work and dedication to professional duties, Dr. Gbadamosi was appointed the University Librarian, Fountain University, Osogbo between September, 2012 and July, 2016. He left Fountain University, Osogbo on account of his appointment as University Librarian, Federal University of Technology, Akure in August, 2016.
